Job summary

Hitachi Energy Canada is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join the Montreal HVDC team, defining electrical specifications for main circuit equipment and supporting projects from tender to execution. You will work with customers and suppliers, coordinating with system, mechanical, and control teams to address technical requirements and ensure equipment meets its intended use.

Qualifications

• Requires BSc/MSc in Electrical Power Engineering with professional engineering competence.
• Experience in HVDC or high voltage equipment studies is preferred.
• Ability to simplify complex topics and solve engineering problems.
• Fluent in English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical specifications for main circuit equipment on HVDC projects.
• Define equipment requirements for HVDC converter stations from tender to execution.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and suppliers to confirm technical requirements.
• Evaluate supplier proposals and witness equipment testing and commissioning.
• Coordinate with system, mechanical, and control teams for continuous improvement.
• Engage with clients and suppliers to resolve technical issues across projects.
