Job summary

Jobtailor in Canada is seeking a Registered Nurse with infusion experience to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in ambulatory clinic settings, administering IV and injectable therapies, including biologics, and managing peripheral IV access.

You will conduct pre-treatment assessments, monitor for adverse events, educate patients, document care in EMR systems, and collaborate with physicians and pharmacists across Kanata and Ottawa locations.

Qualifications

  • RN with current registration and good standing with the applicable provincial College of Nurses in Canada.
  • Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Infusion certification or hands-on IV infusion experience.
  • Current ACLS and CPR certifications.
  • Experience administering biologics or specialty therapies in infusion/ambulatory settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care during IV/injection therapies in ambulatory clinics.
  • Conduct pre-treatment assessments including medical history review and eligibility.
  • Initiate and manage IV access and sterile technique.
  • Prepare and administer IV/injectable medications per standards.
  • Monitor for adverse events and respond per directives.
  • Document care accurately in EMR/clinical systems.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans and self-management.
  • Maintain medication accountability and participate in quality initiatives and audits.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and clinic staff to support coordinated care.
  • Uphold infection prevention and safety standards.
  • Onboard and mentor new clinic staff as needed.

Job description

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care through administration of intravenous and injectable specialty medications, including biologics, in an ambulatory clinic setting
  • Conduct pre-treatment patient assessments, including review of contraindications, medical history, and therapy eligibility
  • Initiate and manage peripheral IV access and access central lines using sterile technique and best practices
  • Prepare, handle, and administer IV and injectable specialty medications according to manufacturer, Health Canada, and nursing college standards
  • Monitor patients during and after infusion, identifying and responding to adverse events per medical directives
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic patient records and clinical systems
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, medications, side effects, and self-administration when applicable
  • Maintain medication accountability and participate in audits, quality initiatives, and clinic compliance activities
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and clinic staff to support coordinated patient care
  • Uphold infection prevention, safety, and quality standards
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and mentoring of new clinic staff as required
  • Work at clinic locations in Kanata and Ottawa according to the stated schedules
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current registration and good standing with the applicable provincial College of Nurses in Canada
  • Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant nursing experience, preferably in infusion, ambulatory care, or specialty clinical settings
  • Infusion certification or demonstrated hands‑on IV infusion experience
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience administering biologics, oncology, or specialty pharmaceutical therapies
  • ACLS certification
  • Experience managing infusion‑related adverse events
  • Comfort working independently in a fast‑paced clinical environment
  • Strong clinical assessment, decision‑making, and patient education skills
  • Experience using electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems
  • Ability to work across multiple clinic locations within a defined region
  • Ability to work onsite in a clinic environment
  • May require travel to multiple clinic locations within the region
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and manual dexterity required for IV insertion and medication administration
  • Ability to lift and move clinical supplies and equipment as needed
