  • Location: Canada

  • Job Type - Contract

The Infrastructure Solution Architect is responsible for leading the infrastructure workstream for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), from due diligence and transition planning through migration, integration, and operational handover. The role designs secure, scalable, and supportable solutions that integrate acquired businesses into the existing business unit while aligning with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, operational, and technology standards. Working under the guidance of the Architecture Team at Organization, the Infrastructure Solution Architect collaborates with M&A leaders, business stakeholders, project teams, delivery partners, cybersecurity, operations, and technical specialists to assess infrastructure estates, define target-state architectures, develop separation and integration roadmaps, and support execution across on-premises platforms, cloud services, virtualization, identity, and networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, planning, and execution of technology integration and separation activities for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, spanning cloud, Active Directory, identity, server, storage, network, end-user computing, and infrastructure services.
  • Conduct technical due diligence and current-state assessments to identify integration requirements, operational risks, technology dependencies, TSA impacts, security considerations, and modernization opportunities.
  • Define target-state infrastructure architectures, migration strategies, and transition roadmaps that align business objectives, technology standards, cybersecurity requirements, operational support models, and Day-1 readiness goals.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations, and business stakeholders to manage cross-functional dependencies, resolve technical issues, and ensure successful cutover, migration, and transition-to-support activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and architecture governance throughout the integration lifecycle, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Guide implementation partners and technical teams, resolve cross-domain design issues, and ensure delivered solution remains consistent with approved architecture.
  • Present new technologies, exceptions, and significant architecture decisions to relevant Organization governance forums, including the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Technology Working Group (TWG).
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, security testing, performance validation, and operational acceptance for migrated and integrated services.
  • Prepare architecture artifacts, compliance checklists, options analyses, cost estimates (C5, C3, and C1), decision records, and executive presentations required for governance and investment decisions.
  • Ensure handover to operations (TTO), including support models, monitoring, documentation, asset records, knowledge transfer, and closure of transition risks and technical debt.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive infrastructure experience, including at least 5 years in infrastructure or solution architecture and demonstrated leadership of complex enterprise migrations or integrations.
  • Proven experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or other large-scale business integrations, including discovery, due diligence, Day 1 planning, transition services, migration, and operational handover.
  • Hands-on architecture experience across on-premises infrastructure, public cloud, virtualization, identity and access management, Active Directory, and enterprise networking.
  • Demonstrated ability to create migration roadmaps, architecture designs, cost estimates, risk assessments, and executive-ready recommendations for complex initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, written communication, and technical leadership skills in large enterprise environments.
  • M&A infrastructure due diligence, integration planning, separation planning, and transition service agreement exit
  • Data centre, compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure operations architecture
  • Virtualization platforms and lift-and-shift migration approaches, including VMware and Hyper-V
  • Cloud architecture and migration across Microsoft Azure and AWS, including hybrid connectivity and landing-zone alignment
