Infrastructure Engineer III

Location : Ottawa, Canada

Reporting to the Vice President of Infrastructure and Security, the Infrastructure Engineer III will design, maintain and manage secure, reliable and available Product Operations infrastructure for Facilisgroup. The job holder is expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of hardware management, hosting and networking as well as server and cloud administration for hybrid environments.

Infrastructure – refers to all hardware, cloud services, hosting, networking, firewalls, routing, load balancing, data management, backup and recovery of Product Operations.

Product Operations – refers to the daily management of Facilisgroup’s proprietary software as a service solutions, as well as the availability, reliability, observability, security and performance of same.

In this role you will :
  • Design and manage IT infrastructure aligned to business requirements and standards, including hosting services, networking, redundancy, security, performance, and storage.
  • Continuously enhance the reliability, security, and operations of the organization’s infrastructure and Product operations.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date inventory, design, build, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with members of the Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Security teams as well as other Infrastructure team members to develop and support Product solutions.
  • Lead day-to-day operations, incident management and / or production deployments in alignment to established service level agreements and on-call policy, which includes after hours and weekend support as needed.
  • Take a leading role in proactively monitoring and maintaining Product operations to ensure confidentiality and integrity of data as well as availability, reliability and service delivery excellence of Product operations.
  • Direct and support the management of SOC generated and other system alerts in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the DevOps team as well as other Infrastructure team members to assist with the automation of workflows.
  • Stay up to date on new and upcoming technologies that can be incorporated into the company’s technology strategy.
  • Take a leading role at implementing Infrastructure upgrades and projects.
  • Manage dashboard and metric reporting for performance management.
As a Infrastructure Engineer III, you bring with you :
  • Strong IT infrastructure knowledge with understanding of hybrid cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in networking, server administration, system hardening as well as identity and access management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory and Virtualization.
  • Recognized networking certification or qualification.
  • Fluency with scripting languages such as SQL, PowerShell and JavaScript.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust quickly to support fast-paced DevOps and Engineering teams within Agile processes.
  • Supervisory experience leading team with good communication and interpersonal skills for
  • developing strong team relationships across the organization.
Experience and Qualifications :
  • 7-10 years’ experience in IT with at least 5 years in infrastructure support.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a computer or technology-related field and / or equivalent years of education and experience working in a related field.
  • Certification(s) with Microsoft Azure or appropriate, relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic environment dealing with complex problems and collaborating with various IT and business teams.
  • Experience with on-premises and cloud infrastructure platforms including support.
You are a good fit if you :
  • Demonstrated experience working with SaaS or software development organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Azure.
  • Have experience working with Linux Operating systems.
  • Have experience with open-source technologies such as Redis and the ELK stack.
  • Have sound working knowledge of ITIL and ITSM processes, specifically Problem
  • Management, Incident Management, Service Requests, and IT Asset Management.
