We are seeking a locum Infectious Diseases physician to provide parental leave coverage for the Infectious Diseases program at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops, British Columbia. The anticipated duration of the locum is 6 months to 1 year, with a target start date of July 2026. Both start and end dates are flexible, and work commitments may range from 0.5 to 1.0 FTE, depending on the applicant’s availability and interests. Physicians interested in shorter-term or partial locum experiences are also encouraged to apply.
The Infectious Diseases program at RIH consists of a collegial group of four physicians practicing in a community-based tertiary referral hospital. Clinical work includes a mix of inpatient consultation and outpatient clinic practice, serving a diverse patient population with a broad range of Infectious Diseases presentations. There is no overhead associated with the position. Call responsibilities include occasional evenings and weekends (approximately 1 in 6), with telephone call coverage for Interior Health.
Physicians work closely with a supportive and experienced interdisciplinary team, including a dedicated pharmacist, nursing staff, and administrative support, contributing to a collaborative and well-supported practice environment.
This is a contract position with a fixed hourly rate, supplemented by Medical On-Call Availability Program (MOCAP) payments. The locum physician will be required to shadow bill.
