Job summary

Artelia Canada is seeking a Network & Automation Technician to join the Telecommunications team in Montréal. You will support PLC, SCADA, DCS and industrial automation systems, assist with configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems, and ensure reliable network communication between control systems and field devices.

The role requires travel up to 40% annually, both domestically and internationally, and fluency in French and English.

Qualifications

• College diploma in automation, controls, electrical engineering technology, electronics, networking, or a related field.
• Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial automation systems.
• Understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, control schematics, and technical documentation.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer and technical documentation skills.
• Availability and willingness to travel approximately 40% of the year, including internationally.
• Comfortable working on industrial sites and supporting commissioning activities for extended periods when required.
• Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Support PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial automation systems.
• Assist with configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems.
• Support industrial networks and communications between control systems and field devices.
• Perform I/O testing, loop checks, and functional testing.
• Troubleshoot issues related to PLCs, SCADA, DCS, networks, and field devices.
• Verify control panels, cabinets, and field wiring.
• Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
• Assist with system integration, testing, and issue resolution.
• Support project managers with technical follow-up, coordination, and documentation.
• Prepare and update technical drawings, I/O lists, network information, test sheets, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients; provide remote and on-site support.
• Prepare, configure, and test equipment prior to shipment or deployment to site.
