Job description

The Opportunity

Maple Leaf Foods at 100 McLeod Avenue, Saskatoon, is a boutique sausage facility. Our Maintenance Department operates in a unionized, team‑based environment. The role is a Millwright position responsible for maintaining and servicing equipment used in daily production. Rotating shifts including afternoons ending at 1:00 am and weekends are required.


Snapshot of a Day‑in‑the‑Life


  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex production equipment with minimal supervision.

  • Operate production equipment and monitor performance.

  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Carry out written and oral work requests, applying corrective action.

  • Manage work orders and record inventory and labor in a computerized maintenance program.

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.

  • Machining and fabricating for equipment repairs or upgrades.

  • Recommend and implement performance enhancements.

  • Adhere to plant food‑safety and health‑and‑safety policies.

  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, WHMIS, and other safety requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What You’ll Bring


  • Valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyperson Certificate.

  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (asset).

  • Extensive mechanical knowledge: power transmission, pneumatics, hydraulics.

  • Knowledge of conveyors, industrial engines, pumps/compressors, grinders, welding equipment, electrical/electronic controls, lathes, machining tools, power tools, fans, blowers, hydraulic systems, high‑speed packaging equipment.

  • Highly motivated; able to work well in a team and independently.

  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail.

  • Ability to lift heavy items as required.

  • Basic computer skills with strong communication abilities.
