Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in industrial engineering and knowledge of lean manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Factory CAD and MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Eliminate waste of time, money, materials, and resources and implement value-generating changes.
  • Develop, status, and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules to monitor progress and performance.
  • Apply critical path methods for network planning and problem resolution.
  • Optimize operation sequences and workflows; create crew plans for optimal resource use.
  • Create metrics to monitor schedule progress and identify risk areas; drive process improvements.

Job Description Industrial Engineer - St. Catharines

Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to St. Catharines on a full-time basis.

The Role

The Industrial Engineer will work directly with production in implementing lean manufacturing systems. You will analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance. You will be responsible to handle standardized work for future products alongside the core team and help to launch extraordinary products. In steady state, you will drive continuous improvement projects. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success at General Motors.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

The main purpose of the Industrial Engineer is to work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. The position will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and or product quality. Develop, status, and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules in sufficient detail to monitor progress, assess program status, and identify performance issues in a timely manner. Use critical path methodology and application in network development, analysis, and problem resolution. Optimize sequence of operations and work flow. Create crew plans to ensure resources are allocated and utilized effectively. Create metrics to monitor schedule progress and help identify risk areas. Work to improve efficiencies through waste elimination and process improvements. Perform data analysis to establish shop metrics and tackle complex problems. Provide Technical support and assistance to manufacturing and maintenance team members, production supervisors and production associates.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field - Industrial Engineering Degree preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial engineering and proficiency in lean manufacturing techniques. Experience with using AutoCAD, Factory cad or equivalent, MS-Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement process improvements. Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to automotive manufacturing. Experience with six sigma methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

All required Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Training Experience in the automotive industry, preferably in manufacturing or production environments. Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $76,100.00 to $114,300.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
