A leading safety technology company in Calgary is seeking a technically minded Industrial Designer to create designs for portable electronic IoT safety devices. This role involves concept sketching, 3D modeling, and collaboration with engineering teams. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, proficiency in SolidWorks, and strong attention to detail. Enjoy the opportunity to see your designs deployed in the field, enhancing worker safety and contributing to an innovative team.
Our team at Blackline Safety is growing! As a people‑driven technology company, with a mission to make sure every worker returns home safely, we drive innovation, practice resiliency, demonstrate leadership, go the extra mile for our customers, and empower our people to be their best.
We're looking for a technically minded Industrial Designer who combines creativity with practical design‑for‑manufacture thinking. This is a broad and hands‑on design role that spans from early concept sketching to bringing products to market. You'll work both independently on assigned projects and collaboratively with our in‑house Mechanical Engineering and Hardware teams, as well as with our external design and engineering partners.
You'll contribute to the design of portable electronic IoT safety devices, gas detection equipment, and accessories—helping ensure our products reflect a unified brand identity through colour, texture, and form. You'll also support packaging design, demo kit creation, and usability testing to deliver exceptional, field‑ready solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to see your designs move from sketchbook to field deployment—protecting real people doing critical work. You'll join a collaborative, cross‑functional product team in a creative, hands‑on environment, supported by experienced designers and engineers. It's a balance of pragmatism and creativity—applying design thinking to real‑world safety and commercialization challenges.
