Job summary

Weir ESCO in Port Hope, ON is seeking an Industrial Controls Technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment onsite. You will diagnose equipment malfunctions, implement immediate corrective actions and design long-term fixes to keep operations safe and reliable.

Strong background in electrical controls and instrumentation is required, with experience using Allen-Bradley; Emerson is an asset. The role offers competitive compensation and benefits.

  • Educational background in Electrical Controls, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology or Equivalent.
  • Proven experience in controls systems troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley is required; Emerson is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, commission, configure, install, and troubleshoot all pneumatic, electronic, electrical, mechanical, and analytical instrumentation devices.
  • Calibrate and repair analytical instruments that monitor or control variables such as flow, level, temperature, pressure, acidity, conductivity, and humidity.
  • Inspect malfunctioning or damaged equipment to identify the root cause of issues and report findings to Maintenance.
  • Develop and design control systems logic.

Purpose of Role:

The Industrial Controls Technician will provide support to production by troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production equipment according to all safety legislation and safety rules. Key Responsibilities:

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
  • Educational background in Electrical Controls, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology or Equivalent.
  • Proven Experience in Controls Systems Troubleshooting
  • Experience with Allen Bradley is required; experience with Emerson is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for candidates who can demonstrate the ability to meet the objectives outlined above.

Compensation: Ranges from CAD $80,000 to $95,000 and eligible for Overtime.
