Job summary

Ontario Public Service seeks a skilled facilitator to build relationships with Indigenous communities and other stakeholders in the Southern Region. You will provide technical advice on the Crown's Duty to Consult and help lead Indigenous programs aligning with sustainable resource management goals.

The role emphasizes collaboration, budget planning, and outreach across Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, with opportunities for professional development and a defined-benefit pension.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture and related social, political and economic issues to provide informed consultations.
• Understanding of community development principles and government goals for development and capacity-building.
• Knowledge of resource management principles, legislation and policies to provide strategic advice.

Responsibilities

• Build cooperative relationships with Indigenous communities, internal/external staff, other ministries and private industry.
• Provide technical advice on the Crown's Duty to Consult and lead Indigenous programs.
• Promote understanding and participation in sustainable resource management programs with communities.
• Act as ministry representative in resource negotiations with Indigenous communities.
• Prepare budget submissions and explore funding options; manage expenditures for Indigenous programs.
• Assist in development and delivery of community outreach initiatives to non-Indigenous communities.
