Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) seeks a full-time Project Officer in Winnipeg, MB to oversee project assessment, implementation, management and monitoring, and to coordinate meetings and travel for reporting to the Senior Director.

The role requires a High School Diploma (post-secondary study in a relevant field is an asset), strong Microsoft Office skills, and experience in Indigenous non-profits, outreach, data research and reporting; travel is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Post-secondary study in environmental, natural resource fields, geography, Indigenous studies, or project management is an asset.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, with intermediate proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Experience in a non-profit Indigenous organization preferred.
• Experience in community outreach and event organization.
• Experience in data research, analysis, and presentation, including report writing.
• Knowledge of Environmental and Indigenous issues.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
• Experience serving on boards/committees is preferred.
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture and MMF programs is an asset.
• Ability to travel; Manitoba driver’s license with reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee approved projects within MMF’s Energy, Infrastructure, and Resource Management Department.
• Build relationships and communicate with MMF Citizens and Harvester to expand community-based programs.
• Coordinate meetings, community workshops, teleconferences, and related activities.
• Prepare reports, briefings, and letters for Director review.
• Research and review relevant documents, policy, and legislation.
• Research and develop surveys and interview questions on climate concerns.
• Monitor and evaluate survey progress and response rates.
• Coordinate travel for tree planting, water and climate monitoring, and outreach.
