Indigenous Coordinator, College of Medicine

Primary Purpose: The Indigenous Coordinator supports the ohpahotân | oohpaahotaan and EDI Strategies, contributing to the success and well-being of Indigenous students within the College of Medicine.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Manager of OVDIH and Administration & Finance at Regina Campus, the coordinator supports Indigenous students, faculty, staff, and initiatives, fostering Indigenous engagement and a welcoming environment. Some travel within the province may be required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary contact for Indigenous students, providing guidance and mentorship
  • Develop programs promoting Indigenous student success
  • Build relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations
  • Support cultural training for faculty, staff, and students
  • Coordinate communication between Indigenous students and university services
  • Assist in policy development reflecting Indigenous perspectives
  • Advocate for Indigenous students’ needs
  • Organize events celebrating Indigenous cultures
  • Monitor and improve Indigenous support programs

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-3 years of related experience, preferably in an institutional setting
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and students
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Organizational and program development skills
  • Commitment to Indigenous student success
