Job summary

Kelowna Women’s Shelter (KWS) invites applications for a Thrift Store Donations & Retail Assistant to support daily operations of the Thrift Store. You will process donations, maintain a clean, merchandised sales floor, and deliver consistent customer service that reflects KWS values.

This role collaborates with volunteers and staff to ensure a positive donor and customer experience. The position requires ability to lift up to 30 lbs, stand for long periods, and work a minimum of 8 shifts per

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of retail, thrift store or customer service experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, POS systems is an asset.
• Basic math skills with the ability to manually calculate totals, make change, and reconcile cash transactions accurately.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs while navigating stairs.
• Respect for donor confidentiality and dignity.
• Must be available for a minimum 8 shifts per month, including two Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner; ensure store is welcoming at all times.
• Assist with displays, pricing, and inventory in consultation with the TS Manager and volunteers.
• Process donations and sales; handle cash and POS transactions.
• Maintain clean, organized sales floor and donation areas; ensure proper signage and displays.
• Collaborate with volunteers and staff to train and recognize volunteers and donors.
• Promote thrift store initiatives through public events or advertisements.
