Job summary

Holy Spirit in Alberta is seeking a temporary Family School Liaison Counsellor to support students with complex needs in Rural Schools. The role begins ASAP and runs through June 30, 2027, with a 35-hour work week and opportunities to collaborate with schools and families.

Responsibilities include individual and small group counselling, community liaison, prevention programs, and crisis intervention, while upholding strict confidentiality and coordinating with First Nations, Metis and Inuit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology and registration with a professional organization is required.
• Minimum of two years of related field experience.
• Strong time management, teamwork, prioritization and communication skills are essential.
• Solid understanding of community support and ability to navigate with families.
• Experience with elementary, junior high and high school students with social-emotional needs.
• Experience working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit families.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in day-to-day operations.
• Knowledge of Violent Threat Risk Assessment.
• Suicide Intervention Training Certification.
• Valid driver’s licence, clean abstract and daily vehicle use.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group counselling to students and families.
• Deliver prevention and educational programming.
• Serve as a community liaison and provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Collaborate with school staff, families and external partners to support students.
