Job summary

MANNARINO Systems & Software Inc. is seeking a Senior System/Software Architect focused on Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) to define platform requirements and lead architecture, integration, and verification of avionics systems within a DO-297 framework.

The role requires strong DO-297 experience, ARINC 653/664 knowledge, excellent documentation skills, and collaboration with system integrators. Hybrid Montreal-based work with English and French proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree in a related field.
• Experience in avionics systems engineering, architecture, integration or verification.
• Strong knowledge of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architectures.
• Understanding of DO-297 development and integration processes.
• Knowledge of ARINC 653 and ARINC 664 standards.
• Experience defining system or platform requirements.
• Experience with system integration, verification and validation of avionics systems.
• Strong technical documentation and interface management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Propose innovative and disruptive architectural concepts related to IMA systems.
• Design, develop, and verify IMA-based avionics systems using lab and test-bench environments.
• Define and specify platform requirements for avionics systems.
• Configure IMA modules and produce configuration and interface management documentation.
• Support analysis activities for current and future IMA platforms.
• Collaborate with System Integrators and Function Suppliers within a DO-297 framework.
• Participate in architecture reviews, system integration activities, and technical discussions.
• Ensure technical solutions align with aviation standards, platform constraints, and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Propose innovative and disruptive architectural concepts related to Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems.
• Design, develop, and verify IMA-based avionics systems using laboratory and test-bench environments.
• Define and specify platform requirements for avionics systems.
• Configure IMA modules and produce associated configuration and interface management documentation.
• Support analysis activities for current and future IMA platforms.
• Collaborate with System Integrators and Function Suppliers within a DO-297 framework.

Required Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in avionics systems engineering, architecture, integration, or verification activities.
• Strong knowledge of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architectures.
• Understanding of DO-297 development and integration processes.
• Knowledge of ARINC 653 and ARINC 664 standards.
• Experience defining system or platform requirements.
• Experience with system integration, verification, and validation of avionics systems.
• Strong technical documentation and interface management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Fluent in both English and French

Preferred Requirements

• Experience as a System Architect or Solution Architect in the aerospace industry.
• Knowledge of avionics networking and data communication architectures.
• Experience with configuration management and interface control documentation (ICDs).
• Familiarity with certification standards and aerospace compliance processes.
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
• Experience supporting complex avionics integration programs.
• Knowledge of flight deck, cockpit, or mission systems architectures.
• Experience working with major aerospace OEMs or avionics suppliers.
• Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Capella, or similar.

Miscellaneous Requirements

• The work model is hybrid (at least 3 days at the office in Montreal).
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written French is mandatory.
• This position is open only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents currently residing in the Montreal area.

Knowledge of English is required to communicate and work with customers outside the province of Quebec. / La connaissance de l'anglais est requise pour communiquer et travailler avec nos clients situés à l'extérieur de la province de Québec.
