Job summary

City of New Westminster Arenas team is seeking a dedicated worker to perform operational, building maintenance and janitorial tasks in our facilities. You will clean daily, operate refrigeration and ice-making equipment, and support general repairs.

Qualified applicants will have Grade 12, refrigeration safety cert, and a valid BC driver's license, with the ability to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion with technical training related to the work.
• Valid Refrigeration Safety Awareness certificate or higher.
• Valid Refrigeration Operator certificate preferred.
• Ability to operate ice‑making, refrigeration, resurfacing equipment.
• Experience with light construction and maintenance tasks.
• Proven ability to provide guidance and instruction to staff.
• Strong customer service and public interaction skills.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's license with clean record.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 and CPR certificate.
• Police Information Check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial duties and general repairs.
• Operate ice‑making, resurfacing, and refrigeration equipment.
• Assist with building maintenance, minor carpentry and painting.
• Provide guidance and training to part‑time staff.
• Support security responsibilities and respond to incidents.
• Maintain a courteous approach when dealing with the public.
