- We are seeking a Senior Clinical Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Context Specialist to support the design, assessment, and implementation of identity, authentication, and application integration capabilities for a large-scale healthcare transformation initiative.
- The successful candidate will help establish a secure, streamlined clinical access experience across clinical information systems and connected applications. The role involves evaluating current and future-state application access architectures, developing technical recommendations, supporting authentication modernization, and ensuring that identity and integration solutions align with clinical workflows and operational requirements.
- The specialist will collaborate with enterprise architects, IAM and cybersecurity teams, clinical stakeholders, application owners, infrastructure teams, vendors, and operational support groups. The role also includes hands‑on technical solution design, integration testing, proof‑of‑concept development, deployment support, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
- This is a remote engagement requiring availability during Atlantic business hours and periodic travel to the designated project location.
Responsibilities:
- Assess current‑state and target‑state identity, authentication, application access, and integration architectures.
- Develop architectural recommendations, identify technical dependencies and risks, and ensure alignment with clinical workflow requirements and enterprise standards.
- Evaluate and design authentication and access solutions, including Single Sign‑On (SSO), multi‑factor authentication (MFA), badge‑tap technologies, shared workstation environments, remote access, session management, and clinician mobility.
- Assess clinical workflows involving contextual application launch, patient‑context synchronization, session roaming, and continuity of access across clinical environments.
- Develop detailed technical solution designs and participate in configuration, integration testing, troubleshooting, proof‑of‑concept development, and pilot activities.
- Collaborate with endpoint, infrastructure, and clinical technology teams to define authentication, application access, session management, and device‑access requirements.
- Assess clinical application portfolios to identify authentication requirements, integration dependencies, modernization opportunities, SSO candidates, and contextual‑launch capabilities.
- Design and validate integrations between clinical information systems, connected applications, IAM platforms, directory services, provisioning solutions, endpoint technologies, and related systems.
- Evaluate legacy authentication constraints, multi‑domain identity requirements, LDAP integration, federation, and modern authentication protocols.
- Provide technical guidance during system testing, pilot activities, deployment waves, and go‑live support.
- Investigate and resolve authentication, session‑management, identity‑integration, and clinical application‑access issues in collaboration with technical teams and vendors.
- Develop operational procedures, support models, technical documentation, and knowledge‑transfer materials to facilitate transition into ongoing operations.
- Lead workshops, facilitate technical decisions, present architecture recommendations, and mentor project personnel to support long‑term operational sustainability.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Informatics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience designing or assessing application access, authentication, identity integration, or clinical workflow solutions in large, complex healthcare or enterprise environments.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital or clinical environment, with an understanding of how authentication, contextual launch, session management, and application access affect clinical workflows.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing solution architectures and conducting technical assessments involving multiple applications, integration platforms, identity services, and end‑user technologies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with application owners, clinical stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to assess workflow requirements and align technology solutions with operational needs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting large‑scale system implementations, including architecture reviews, solution recommendations, deployment planning, testing, and go‑live support.
- Relevant experience in clinical authentication, healthcare interoperability, identity integration, technology modernization, and operational transition is highly desirable.
