Job summary

Cyclic Materials Inc. is seeking an experienced I&C Electrician to maintain and troubleshoot plant equipment at our Ontario facility. The role focuses on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems with an emphasis on reliability and safety.

You will perform preventive maintenance, participate in FAT, install new equipment, and support system upgrades. A strong background in PLC/HMI and motor control is essential, with travel to the USA for training as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Industrial electrician certifications required / dual-ticket a strong asset.
• Experience troubleshooting PLC/HMI and performing basic programming adjustments.
• High school diploma or GED; technical electrical/mechanical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and perform breakdown recovery on plant equipment.
• Install, inspect and repair electrical, instrumentation and related equipment.
• Develop and follow preventive maintenance procedures and PM requirements.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance lead, the I&C Electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and performing breakdown recovery work for the plant equipment to ensure the smooth operation of equipment in the facility. This role requires experience in industrial electrical systems to troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain equipment used in the monitoring and control of processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preproduction activities include:
• Assist in equipment installation and setup.
• Support the definition of preventive maintenance (PM) requirements, spare parts lists, and work order system needs.
• Contribute to writing SOPs and maintenance work permits.
• Participate in Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) as required.
• Complete all pre-production training.

Postproduction activities include:

• Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, and other mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose issues involving motors, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, switches, flow meters, pumps, agitators, crushers, shredders, and milling systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and use diagnostic tools to reduce equipment downtime.
• Support millwrighting tasks and perform mechanical installations or repairs within qualification scope.
• Assist with equipment upgrades and system improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, work orders, and parts usage.
• Coordinate with operations, production, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
• Communicate equipment status, repair requirements, and parts needs to supervisors.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO).
• Support facility-wide environmental, safety, and compliance efforts.
• Ability to wear a full-face respirator and meet clean shaven requirements
• Assist with installing new equipment and implementing system upgrades to improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
• Collaborate with operators, production teams, and maintenance staff to resolve equipment issues and complete work orders.
• Communicate equipment status, required repairs, and parts needs to supervisors and management.

Qualifications:

• 442A Industrial Electrician Certification/ 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician with industrial experience required
• 447A instrumentation and controls certification preferred
• Experience troubleshooting PLC/HMI and performing basic programming adjustments
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in metal recycling or manufacturing.
• High school diploma or GED; technical training in electrical/mechanical systems preferred.
• Dual-ticket Millwright/Electrician is a strong asset.

Specific Skills

Technical:

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and related components.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems and perform basic programming adjustments.
• Understanding of mechanical troubleshooting (hydraulics, pneumatics, general mechanical systems).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
• Ability to travel to USA for job-related training as required.

Working Conditions:

• This position may require working in outdoor or indoor environments, with exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
• The job may involve shift work, weekend shifts, or on-call availability depending on operational needs.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.

Pay Range

$40 - $45 CAD
