Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vacuum Truck Technician to join our team. Vacuum truck technician operates and maintains vacuum trucks to perform on-site services such as cleaning tanks, pipelines, and confined spaces. They ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations while handling and transporting waste materials. Daily tasks include conducting vehicle inspections, managing vacuum equipment, documenting service activities, and communicating with clients and team members to ensure efficient job execution.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain vacuum trucks to clean sewers, storm drains, septic tanks, and industrial sites.
  • Collect and transport liquid waste such as wastewater, industrial residues, and hazardous materials to treatment facilities.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Follow strict safety protocols to prevent leaks, spills, or contamination.
  • Communicate with clients and team members to coordinate services and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience operating vacuum trucks or similar heavy equipment, especially in industrial cleaning, waste management, or environmental services.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling, including Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) protocols and spill response procedures.
  • On-the-job training or formal certification, such as vacuum truck technician courses that cover pump systems, safety procedures, and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with confined space entry and working in challenging environments like construction sites, treatment plants, or oil and gas facilities.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills, especially with vacuum systems, hoses, and pump components.
