Job summary

Klohn Crippen Berger seeks an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer to join the Mining Environmental Group in Fredericton. The role blends field and office work with opportunities for international travel, delivering water balance, quality modelling, and hydrotechnical design on mining projects.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, grow professionally, and contribute to climate-resilient solutions within a dynamic, globally connected firm.

Qualifications

• A degree in civil engineering and track record of development
• At least five years’ civil design experience for mining projects
• Eligible to register as Professional Engineer in Canada
• Experience in channel design, flood mapping, water conveyance and drainage
• Ability to build relationships with multidisciplinary project teams
• Experience in a safety-focused environment with near-miss reporting

Responsibilities

• Model mine site water balance and water quality (GoldSim exposure)
• Design hydrotechnical components for tailings storage facilities
• Incorporate climate change resiliency in designs
• Contribute to risk assessments and Dam Safety Reviews (DSRs)
• Engage with clients, colleagues and suppliers on field programs and design solutions
• Travel to project sites in Canada and internationally

What You Would Engage In

Our focus is on the application of critical thinking to the management of mine waste and water. If continuing your career journey with us, you would be part of our Mining Environmental Group, based out of our Fredericton office. The role of Intermediate Water Resources Engineer comes with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule and will provide you with the opportunity to:

• Work on mine site wide water balance and water quality models (with the opportunity to use GoldSim)
• Design hydrotechnical components of tailings storage facilities for global mining projects
• Incorporate climate change resiliency in hydrotechnical design
• Contribute to risk assessments, Dam Safety Reviews (DSRs) and risk-informed decision making
• Engage with clients, colleagues and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and design solutions
• Work with the latest versions of software, including GoldSim, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC- HMS, Flow-2D/3D
• Be a part of diverse teams of multi-discipline engineers and designers from conceptual design through to construction.
• Receive ongoing guidance and mentorship from leaders in the industry in a supportive, dynamic company culture that supports career development.
• Travel to various project sites within Canada and internationally.

What We Require

We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. We do however require the following qualifications:

• A degree in civil engineering, with a track record of continued development
• At least five years’ civil design experience related to surface water controls for mining projects
• You must be eligible to register as professional engineer in Canada
• Experience in channel design, flood mapping, water conveyance and drainage
• An ability to build relationships with multidisciplinary project-based teams
• Experience in a safety focused environment with near miss and incident reporting requirements

• An ability to find creative solutions and know how to present them
• An ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and industry partners
• Demonstrate that you are flexible and seek solutions rather than focus on problems
