Job summary

Englobe invites an experienced hydrogeologist to join our Ontario team on diverse environmental projects. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists and technologists across Ontario and our national network, contributing to groundwater studies, site assessments and regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes health and safety, data analysis, technical reporting and fieldwork.

You should have a university degree in Hydrogeology or related field, with 5+ years of experience; P.Geo. or P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related environmental related field.
  • Qualified Person (QP) designation is an asset; P.Geo. or P.Eng. in Ontario is an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Strong data management and regulatory interpretation skills.
  • Experience with groundwater monitoring and hydrogeological assessments.

Your main responsibilities
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules and guidelines and actively participate in all aspects of the health and safety program;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, scientists, technologists, risk assessors, and hydrogeologists across Ontario and Englobe’s national network;
  • Support project management activities, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, client communication, and proposal preparation;
  • Analyze environmental and hydrogeological data and prepare figures, tables, cross-sections, and other technical deliverables;
  • Prepare technical reports, hydrogeological assessments, conceptual site models, groundwater monitoring reports, water balance assessments and site investigation summaries in accordance with applicable provincial and municipal guidelines;
  • Conduct groundwater inflow assessments for excavation and construction-related projects and foundation drainage assessments. Prepare permitting applications necessary for groundwater control projects both with the local municipality and the Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks;
  • Evaluate groundwater conditions to support contaminant transport assessments, risk evaluation, and remediation planning;
  • Complete servicing studies for various development projects for water and septic servicing through completion of short and/or long term pumping tests and septic impact assessments including both small and large subsurface sewage disposal systems;
  • Conduct hydrogeological field investigations, including groundwater monitoring, hydraulic conductivity testing, and groundwater flow assessment;
  • Support and execute contaminated site investigations involving soil, groundwater, sediment, porewater, and surface water;
  • Coordinate drilling programs, monitoring well installations, field testing activities, and environmental contractors;
What makes you unique
  • University degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related environmental related field;
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is an asset, but not mandatory;
  • Qualified Person (QP) designation is an asset;
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in hydrogeology, contaminated sites assessment, groundwater investigations, and environmental consulting;
  • Working knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulations;
  • Experience conducting hydrogeological investigations, including groundwater monitoring, groundwater sampling techniques, hydraulic conductivity testing, and groundwater flow interpretation;
  • Strong understanding of groundwater flow systems, contaminant transport, plume characterization, and hydrogeological data interpretation;
  • Familiar with the Permit to Take Water (PTTW) applications and EASR postings;
  • Technical writing experience, including hydrogeological assessments, groundwater monitoring reports, and contaminated site investigation reports;
  • Strong data management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, including the interpretation of environmental laboratory data and applicable regulatory criteria;
  • Experience supervising environmental drilling programs, logging subsurface conditions, and overseeing monitoring well installation, development, and sampling;
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to personal vehicle;
  • Ability to travel to project sites, work in varying weather conditions, perform field‑based activities on an occasional basis;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

The salary range for this position is $83,604 to $109,730 CAD base per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications, their positioning within our internal compensation structure, and relevant geographic cost‑of‑living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good‑faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role.
