Agropur is looking for a Packaging Specialist to join its team in St-Hubert.
The Packaging Spécialiste will work closely with the Director of R&D – Packaging and Technology to develop and oversee packaging specifications, lead reengineering initiatives, ensure coordination between corporate offices and plants, and manage sourcing projects and supplier/SKU implementations. This strategic role contributes to optimizing packaging processes while supporting innovation and operational efficiency goals.

Salary Scale 005: $82,600 to $103,200
(Base salary will be determined based on academic background, experience, training, and job-related skills.)
What this role involves:
Develop and formalize technical specifications for packaging solutions
Act as an internal expert on assigned packaging types
Collaborate on innovation in packaging materials and concepts
Analyze market trends and competitor practices to improve cost and efficiency
Propose packaging reformulations and conduct related case studies
Apply continuous improvement tools (e.g., problem-solving, root cause analysis)
Lead or supportDesign to Value (DTV)workshops to optimize packaging design
Collaborate with plants and procurement teams to ensure technical requirements are accurately reflected in sourcing processes
Influence internal stakeholders to adopt innovative practices
Provide technical support on packaging-related projects (quality issues, specification changes, plant trials)
Manage procurement and reformulation projects while minimizing operational disruptions
Participate in onboarding new suppliers and SKUs, including plant trials
Define target costs to support procurement negotiations
Contribute to supplier technical audits in collaboration with the Quality team
Foster strategic partnerships with suppliers to drive innovation and performance
What you need to join our team:
Bachelor’s degree in materials, mechanical, chemical engineering, or other relevant field;
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within the food industry;
Strong knowledge of packaging materials (cardboard and plastic), polymer science, and material interactions;
Good understanding of product development processes;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English
(English is required to collaborate with colleagues in other Canadian provinces).
