Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor to install, service, maintain, and repair all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment in DDSB Facilities and to be responsible for record keeping, supervising part-time workers and other trades, and maintaining all equipment and tools used.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain the and Refrigeration Equipment in the DDSB Facilities

  • Install heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment; responsible for servicing, repairing, and overhauling the equipment; responsible for continuing knowledge of code changes, material, equipment, new products, methods and procedures used;
  • Diagnose problems with the and refrigeration equipment and perform various troubleshooting and corrective procedures to ensure the equipment is working properly;
  • Inspect and commission for new or upgraded installations for systems or equipment, as needed;
  • Order new material, replacement parts and other purchases, through the Supervisor;
  • Assist in the maintenance and control of cooling towers and water treatment.
2. Perform other Duties in the Maintenance Center
  • Record, document and assist in record keeping;
  • Supervise part-time workers and other trades in the performance of their work;
  • Responsible for assigned trucks and truck inspections; responsible for all other Board equipment and tools used.
Qualifications
  • Secondary School Diploma plus current Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic's Trades Certificate and completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Current Ozone Depletion Prevention Card and Class 1 Gas Fitter's Certificate.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a licensed tradesman is preferred.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of electric and electronic circuitry associated with and Refrigeration controls and control systems.
  • Experience with roof top and other gas fired heating units; centrifugal refrigeration and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring and pipe schematics.
  • Class G Driver's License in good standing.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.
Additional Information
  • This is a 40 hour per week, day shift position
  • Work schedule is 6 : 30 to 2 : 30
  • Provide a current Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening upon hire.
