OPPORTUNITY

We are currently accepting applications for the position of HR Specialist to join the team.

The Human Resources Recruiter, reporting to the Human Resources Manager, contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will create a high-performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity and standards.

The focus of this position is on the coordination of the recruitment and selection process, conducting new employee orientations and to ensure that all mandatory HR services meet the appropriate criteria of the organization and existing legislation.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of one day per week in the office, subject to change based on operational or management needs.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the HR manager your role will be responsible for :

  • Advertises employee job openings first, internally, and then, externally, in keeping with VITA recruitment policies and practices.
  • Researches and identifies alternative advertisements to post job vacancies to attract qualified applicants.
  • Updates and maintains job vacancies on VITA’s website and database.
  • Receives, screens and logs in all resumes in the Recruitment Tracking System.
  • Pre-screens selected resumes and recommends qualified applicants for interview process.
  • Contacts applicants, schedules interviews with supervisors and recommends successful candidates for hiring.
  • Schedules observation shifts with supervisor of potential candidates (where applicable)
  • Conducts reference checks and police check on all successful candidates.
  • Prepares new, extends transfer / offer letters to successful candidates.
  • Leads New Employee Onboarding Process.
  • Prepares Orientation packages and ensures mandatory documentation are provided to all successful candidates.
  • Attends job fairs as a representative for VITA.
  • Prepares and distributes various reports for the Human Resources department and other management staff.
  • Coordinate placement and orientation of Volunteers and Students
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Training & Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably within a large organization.
  • In possession or currently working towards CHRP designation.
  • Minimum 2 years recruitment and selection experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience using an HRIS, experience with ADP an asset.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements in support of human resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced skills in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential Information with diplomacy and tact.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility, able to adapt to change and shifting priorities.
