Our growing SE client is seeking aHuman Resources (HR) Generalistto take over for the current individual who is retiring after years of supporting this innovative business. This role is crucial in offering valuable support not only to the local Calgary team, but to the global leadership and Human Resources (HR) team.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources (HR) in the United States, and the local GM, this role handles day-to-day human resource duties including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, and benefit administration, along with many other functions outside the ‘norm.’ Some of these additional duties include, health and safety, facilities management, IT support, etc.

This hire will bring a “can-do” attitude and will wear many different hats by learning various areas of the business. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management, organization, and communication skills as they navigate an ever-changing environment, growing rapidly across the globe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers to prepare job descriptions, assess candidates, conduct preliminary screening interviews, schedule formal interviews and draft job offers
  • Present offers to selected candidates and coordinate with managers and supervisors to onboard new hires
  • Update HRMS databases e.g. new hires, separations, benefit and employment changes
  • Provide onboarding training to new hires on company policies and procedures, benefits, and RRSP programs
  • Provide support with any employment issues related to recruitment, performance management, employment termination, training and development, labour relations, and health and safety (H&S) regulation
  • Assist with the administration of engagement surveys, performance reviews and goal setting with employees, as well as benefits administration
  • Complete time and labour processes including timecard review, reporting, and approval review
  • Processing of bi-weekly payroll via ADP
  • Be involved in the social committee and be an integral part of any events within the company
  • Facilitate and partake in the joint health and safety committee (JHSC)

Education:

  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Human Resource procedures and Alberta labour legislation
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Valid passport – travel required 1-2 times a year
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of HRMS is an asset
  • Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite is an asset

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a HR Generalist or a similar role is required

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be fair and empathic
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues
  • Adaptable, versatile, and resourceful
  • Ability to work independently and come up with recommendations for action as required
  • A can-do attitude, with the flexibility to take on smaller tasks as needed

Base Salary:$65,000-70,000 per year

  • RRSP matching program

Work Hours:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 7:15am – 4:00pm (Flexible)

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
