Job description
What is the role?

HJR Asphalt is looking for a full‑time HR Coordinator to join our team. The primary role of the HR Coordinator is to oversee the day‑to‑day transactional functions of our Human Resources Department. Reporting to the HR Manager, this position provides support to employees and management and encompasses a variety of tasks related to onboarding & offboarding, training, benefits and policy development and implementation. This is a temporary contract of 1 year with the possibility of extension.

Job duties are:
  • Assisting with recruitment processes – organizing and attending career fairs, developing job descriptions, screening candidates, hiring and onboarding
  • Assisting with training & development initiatives: facilitating orientations, updating training materials, tracking employee training and certificates
  • Maintaining the employee group benefits – providing regular employee communications; assisting employees with claims and general questions, onboarding and offboarding employees
  • Overseeing HJR’s controlled documents – updating and circulating policies, procedures, forms, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining a variety of company policies and internal procedures – ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations
  • Managing employee vacation and time‑off tracking for seasonal and hourly employees
  • Keeping accurate records of employee data and maintaining discretion with confidential information
  • Providing support to other departments – safety, projects, operations, etc.
  • Providing support to employees – addressing employee inquiries regarding a variety of HR topics
