Job description

The Municipal Group of Companies is currently seeking a detail-oriented individual for the permanent, full-time position of Human Resources Coordinator, reporting to the Director of HR. The successful candidate will work closely with the Human Resources Department to provide support to Municipal’s employees. This position is based in office in Bedford, NS.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of HR, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operations of The Municipal Group of Companies across the Atlantic Provinces. The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for providing comprehensive support with recruitment, employee relations, immigration programs, and day-to-day operations of a busy Human Resources Department.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain employee data in our HRIS system (Event, SuccessFactors) for all employees
  • Complete employment verifications for hourly employees.
  • Assist with delivering full recruitment services including creating, and posting job postings, prescreening, interviewing, employee offer letters and onboarding.
  • Plan and attend Career fairs and recruiting events.
  • Participate in and plan employee engagement initiatives including field visits, BBQ’s, sponsorship events and company events.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information and protect the security of such information.
  • Facilitate all aspects of the company Immigration Program.
  • Maintain accurate records on all employee work permits using Monday’s.com and SuccessFactors.
  • Assist employees with Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) paperwork.
  • Be the main point of contact for all immigration-related inquiries.
  • Stay current on immigration requirements and regulations
  • Establish and maintain accurate filling of all personnel records.
  • Prepare and maintain reports necessary to support the functions of the Human Resources department.
  • Assistance with various other HR duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience
  • A post-secondary education in Human resources, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
  • Experience with employee immigration programs and documentation is an asset.
  • Must have strong computer skills, especially in the Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be organized and detailed conscious while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to take directions, multi-task, and work with deadlines.
  • Able to proactively solve problems, prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, with a high attention to detail.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
  • Willing to travel across the Atlantic Provinces as required.
