Job summary

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is seeking an Human Resources Business Partner to provide guidance on HR issues including labour relations, performance management, and organizational development. The role includes managing collective agreements, investigations, recruitment, and benefits administration while collaborating with staff, leadership, and union representatives.

Qualifications

  • 3 years progressive hands-on experience as a Human Resources Generalist, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • CHRP credential required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and interpret collective agreements, resolve grievances, participate in mediations and arbitrations.
  • Coach leadership on performance management, workplace investigations, discipline, and conflict resolution.
  • Chair Labour Management committee(s).
  • Support collective bargaining negotiations as subject-matter-expert.
  • Lead Pay Equity committee discussions for assigned union groups.
  • Build relationships with leadership and union reps to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
  • Lead investigations into workplace violence, harassment, and discrimination with compliance to laws.
  • Prepare documents for arbitrations, negotiations, and settlements; review HR policies.
  • Develop and deliver training and communications on labour relations and bargaining changes.
  • Advise on internal staff recruitment activities.
  • Ensure staff movement is tracked in HRIS/ATS and Excel files; support leave management.
  • Participate in internal committees and workforce planning; provide HRBP coverage across sites.

Job description

The Human Resources Business Partner provides guidance and support on a wide range of HR issues, including labour relations, grievance management, employee performance, and organizational development. This role involves managing collective agreements, conducting workplace investigations, supporting leadership with employee relations, and overseeing recruitment, leave management, and benefits administration, all while building strong relationships with staff, leadership, and union representatives.

ROLE
  • Act as a lead resource in administering and interpreting collective agreements, resolving grievances, and participating in mediations and arbitrations
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leadership on performance management, workplace investigations, progressive discipline, and conflict resolution
  • Chair Labour Management committee(s)
  • Act as subject-matter-expert during collective bargaining negotiations
  • Lead Pay Equity committee discussions, for assigned union groups
  • Build strong relationships with leadership and union representatives to align HR strategies with organizational goals and support change management initiatives
  • Lead investigations into workplace violence, harassment, and discrimination, ensuring compliance with employment law and organizational policies
  • Prepare documents for arbitrations, negotiations, and settlements; review and propose updates to organizational HR policies
  • Develop and deliver training and communications related to labour relations, policy updates, and collective bargaining changes
  • Responsible for advising on internal staff recruitment activities
  • Ensure internal and external staff movement is accurately tracked through HRIS, ATS, employee digital files and excel spreadsheets
  • Supports leave management, ensuring leaves of absence are processed accurately and communicated to employees
  • Participate in internal committees, workforce planning, and provide HRBP coverage support across multiple sites as needed
Qualifications
  • University degree
  • Post-graduate Certificate in Human Resources
  • 3 years progressive hands-on experience as a Human Resources Generalist, preferably in a healthcare care environment
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • CHRP required

Additional Information

Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the organizational needs.
