Key Responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition – Facilitate the recruitment process by creating postings, interviewing, reference checking, hiring, and delivering orientation.
- Assist management in the preparation of interview questions and screening tools.
- Provide administration and gatekeeping for recruitment and hiring activities and results. This includes onboarding, data entry, processing hiring documentation and assisting employees with their enrollment in the benefits and pension programs.
- Utilize the applicant tracking system (ATS) to facilitate recruitment activities including screening, interviews, reference checks, job offers and related documentation.
- Assist and provide support in setting up and monitoring user activity for the Company’s centralized applicant tracking system (ATS). Create and maintain job requisitions, job postings, and templates in ATS.
- Post job postings in various external job boards, social media platforms and monitor job posting budget, credits and results.
Leadership
- Support and coach management to ensure familiarity and application of human resources practices, programs, policies and regulations.
- Provide training and support for leaders in the recruitment process, identifying staffing needs and managing open roles.
- Provide recruitment analytics on a bi‑weekly, monthly and quarterly basis for senior management.
- Serve as the point of contact for recruitment vendors, career fairs, external agencies, employment services, local colleges and universities in Ontario.
- Lead planning, coordination and execution of various recruitment, training and onboarding activities, including events for new property openings, offsite career fairs, information sessions, and local college and university visits.
- Draft and manage standard templates for job postings, job descriptions and Talent Qualification Interviews for external and internal use.
- Research and recommend the external recruitment advertising strategy and establish and maintain an appropriate network of recruitment and community partners.
- Retain a thorough and updated knowledge of company programs, policies, procedures and gaming regulations. Liaise with government regulators to ensure compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of HR practices, legislation and policies to respond to employee and management inquiries.
- Analyze and report on key recruitment metrics and research job market trends across the Ontario region, identifying best practices.
- Exercise due diligence on behalf of the Casino and provide sound and informed advice consistent with policies, procedures, collective agreements, employee handbooks and employment legislation.
- Provide support and guidance to the Leaders, Human Resources Coordinators and admin supports.
Employee and Labour Relations
- Coach and counsel managers on employee performance issues, best practices and effective communication (development and disciplinary).
- Respond to various inquiries from internal and external ATS users to contribute to excellence in their recruitment experience.
- Provide problem solving and ongoing training to on‑site Human Resources teams and hiring managers with regard to ATS.
- Provide expertise and guidance on application and interpretation of the Collective Bargaining Agreements and other Labour Relations functions, activities and processes and ensure compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication and application of collective agreement requirements, timelines and processes.
Organizational Development
- Identify and implement key workforce planning initiatives, recruitment strategies and orientation programs to further enhance employee engagement and professional development.
- Support HR processes and maintain accurate documentation for employee and departmental files and information systems.
What You Bring
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of progressive Human Resources experience including recruitment, employee relations, labour relations and other key human resource functions.
- Post‑secondary diploma/degree in human resources management; CHRP/CHRL designation an asset.
- Employee relations experience in a Union/Non‑union environment.
- Knowledge and experience with full‑cycle talent acquisition – job descriptions/postings, sourcing candidates, hosting job fairs, interviews and job offers.
- Some knowledge of Performance management programs.
- Experience with cost claims management and injury prevention programs.
- General knowledge of ESA legislation, Human Resources theories, practices, legislation and resources.
- Knowledge and experience using HRIS software an asset.
- Familiar with the principles of employment equity and work with team members and managers to uphold equitable employment practices.
- Labour Relations experience including but not limited to grievance management, layoffs, minutes of settlement, letters of understanding, arbitration & mediation, interpreting articles, providing guidance and assistance to team members in relation to the Collective Agreement.
- Comfortable problem solving on your own.
- Ability to multitask and provide sound advice despite multiple interruptions.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proven high level of Customer Service.
- Strong and effective communication – written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Well‑developed critical thinking skills.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion and judgment.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and act as a facilitator.
- The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
