Job summary

A human resources firm in Toronto is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to manage HR activities and foster a positive workplace culture. This role includes addressing employee concerns, conducting onboarding, and handling payroll. Overview

Position Overview :

Reporting to the Site Manager and supporting all stakeholders, the Human Resources Assistant will oversee the day-to-day HR activities and provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes equality, empowerment, quality, goal attainment with core Witron values and health and safety. The position is axed on ensuring that employee concerns are addressed timely and equitably and that all reporting and health and safety issues are dealt with, assessed and escalated as needed.

Qualifications
  • Relevant post-secondary education
  • A minimum of two years’ progressive Human Resources experience in the areas of recruiting, payroll, benefits and employee relations
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety
Knowledge / Experience Required
  • Good working knowledge of related employment legislation and its application in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Computer knowledge and advanced proficiency within the Microsoft Office platforms (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required
  • 1-3 years experience in a Human Resources related role
  • Exposure to both unionized and non-unionized environments an asset
  • Exposure to various workplace committees an asset
  • Direct experience with payroll an asset
  • Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision
  • Fluency in French and English an asset
Primary Job Functions
  • Assistance with all aspects of employee relations
  • Report and distribute on key site statistics and indicators as prescribed by the site manager
  • Participate in various HR projects to ensure that corporate initiatives are supported at site level
  • Take hands-on responsibility for the day-to-day HR administration of site employees
  • Maintain employee records and follow-up on employee questions / concerns
  • Conduct onboarding meeting with new employees to complete required hiring forms.
  • General administration of compensation and benefits
  • Perform payroll and time calculation as well as salary and wage calculations
  • Assist Site Manager as needed on a day to day administrative capacity
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of the site
  • May be required to work and travel outside of the normal business hours
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
