The Safety Coordinator is primarily responsible for overseeing and administering the Bird Safety Program and monitoring safety compliance on the assigned project(s). This position will be located in Mississauga, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with workers and supervisors.
  • Stay up to date with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
  • Provide administrative support to the HSE team as needed.
Qualifications
  • Certificate or Diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or working towards completion).
  • 0–3 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in construction or a related industry.
  • Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation (e.g., OHSA).
  • Knowledge of conducting safety inspections against regulations and internal procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of formwork, carpentry, electrical, and other trades, and the ability to effectively communicate about hazards and effective controls to mitigate risk.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites within the GTA.
  • Working towards or possessing safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CRST, CHSO, NCSO).
  • Experience with incident reporting methodologies, software, or safety management systems is considered an asset.
