Gordon Food Service's Specialty Companies, Intercity Packers and Fresh Start Foods, is searching for a Full Time HR Manager to join our teams in Richmond, BC.

The HR Manager supports the Human Resources function supporting the local business needs and leadership while managing day-to-day Human Resource services for the Specialty Companies. Coordinates best practices in employee relations, compensation, training and development, benefits, succession planning, and leadership development, along with building other effective tools needed by management. Responsible for executing enterprise initiatives and acts as liaison from the business to the HR Shared Services team.

Position: Full-Time, Permanent.

Salary: Depending on experience, between $100,000-110,000 per year, plus performance bonus.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, business hours.

Location: Richmond, BC. Intercity Packers and Fresh Start Foods each have a separate facility in different parts of Richmond, BC. This individual will be required to spend time at both facilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Knowledge of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Stays up to date on applicable employment laws and government regulations.

  • Cross Functional collaboration with other departments.

  • Supports plant Senior Leadership (SLT) and the needs of the business.

  • Supports workforce planning.

  • Advises leaders on performance management process, complex employee relations, policy interpretation, and performance improvement.

  • Advices and overseeing and helps facilitate training programs and monitors completion of leadership and employee programs development. Evaluates training effectiveness and provides feedback and recommendations to HR Shared Services.

  • Partners with HR Shared Services (HRSS) center of excellence such as compliance, compensation, Learning and Development, HRIS, Benefits, etc executing on enterprise initiatives as well as bringing feedback from the plant needs to HRSS.

  • Liaison between Local Plant leadership with HR Shared Services.

  • Overseeslocal HR team to ensure execution of programs.

  • Oversees Workers Compensation/WSIB process.

  • Plans and supports employee engagement events that reinforce company culture and engagement.

  • Manages, develops, and trains the HR staff. This includes monitoring performance and addressing issues, up to and including disciplinary actions, in consultation with HR leadership and the company Senior Leadership Team.

  • Analyze and review HR Metrics such as turnover, hiring, market trends, retention etc. Raises up positive and negative trends and provides guidance, consultation and solutions to the local business leadership teams.

  • Performs general HR administrative functions and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must have access to a vehicle.

  • Must have 3+ years of leadership experience, and at least 5 years of HR experience.

  • Experience working in a multi-plant manufacturing industry is preferred.

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, business, or related, is preferred.

  • CPHR Certification is preferred.

  • A second language is an asset.

  • Must be comfortable with the environment/working conditions in a manufacturing/warehouse facility (ie. can be cold, wet, loud).

  • Ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.

  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct employees and indirect leadership

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and identify effective solutions.

  • Skill in complex problem solving, including analyzing information, developing options, and implementing solutions.

  • Sensitivity to potential problems and early identification of emerging issues.

  • Skill in bringing parties together, reconciling differences, and reaching constructive resolutions.

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email, and HRIS software.
