Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc in Edmonton is seeking an HR support specialist to assist with payroll, HR reporting, data analysis, and benefits inquiries for hourly staff. You will manage the SAP HRMS for hires, terminations, and rate changes, respond to payroll/pension items, and keep Kronos/SAP data up to date.

You will support recruitment, onboarding, and orientation while maintaining accurate HR files in a fast-paced, unionized environment, with a focus on accuracy and collaboration across teams.

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources management.
• Excellent computer skills including Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, unionized environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
• Professional in developing positive working relationships.
• Willingness to learn and improve within a continuous improvement environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line HR support for employee questions and payroll/benefits inquiries.
• Manage HRMS (SAP) for hires, terminations, and job changes for hourly staff.
• Respond to payroll and pension inquiries; coordinate payroll and benefits processes.
• Maintain KRONOS and SAP data; submit HR documents to corporate and PBAS as required.
• Create reports on turnover and trends for hourly staff.
• Support hourly recruitment, onboarding, and orientation activities.

The Opportunity

The incumbent provides support to plant operations with duties such as: front-line contact for employee questions and concerns; HR related reporting, data analysis and metrics; and, benefit and pension administration/inquiries.

Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-Life

• Manage the HRMS (SAP) in relation to adding new hires, termination, job changes, rate adjustment for all hourly employees
• Respond to all payroll and pension related items
• Manage and maintain updated information in KRONOS and SAP
• Submit documentation to Corporate office and to hourly benefit plan administrator (PBAS) as required
• Respond to all in-person and phone inquiries regarding payroll and benefits
• Coordinate various payroll, benefit and pension policies and interact with Corporate representatives to ensure objectives are fulfilled
• Create statistical reports regarding turnover and trends of hourly staff issues
• Support hourly recruitment (applicant selection, interviews, job offers, job fairs, etc.) as required
• Support the orientation process as required
• Promote positive employee engagement and assist in coordination of employee related events as required
• Maintain accurate Human Resource files for hourly and salary employees

What You’ll Bring

• Working towards or completion of a post-secondary education program, diploma or degree in Human Resources management
• Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook with a passion for accuracy
