An Indigenous community organization is seeking a Housing Rebuild Project Manager to lead the reconstruction of homes lost in the 2023 wildfires. Skwlāx te Secwepemcúĺecw (SteS) is traditionally known as Skwlāx, which translates to Black Bear in Secwépemctsín, the traditional language. SteS has a unique vision and drive; the Band has not only led the way in tourism within the Shuswap, but it has also led the way in economic development. The creation of Quaaout Lodge, Talking Rock Golf, Le7ka Spa, and Little Shuswap Gas Station has helped promote Secwepemc culture, and allowed the SteS people to develop world class accommodation and leisure activities.
The Housing Rebuild Project Manager plays a vital leadership role in restoring 19 homes lost during the 2023 Bush Creek East Wildfires as part of SteS Recovery & Rebuild Initiative. This is a position that combines strategic oversight with hands‑on project management to deliver safe, high‑quality homes that meet community needs and regulatory standards. Working closely with the Executive Director of Administration and the Project Coordinator, the Housing Rebuild Project Manager will guide every phase of construction, from site preparation to final walkthroughs, ensuring work is completed on time, on budget, and in full compliance with all codes and funding requirements. This role involves coordinating contractors, trades, engineers, and government partners, while maintaining open communication with community members returning home. Ideal candidates bring proven construction management expertise, a collaborative leadership style, and a deep commitment to quality, accountability, and community well‑being.
This is a full‑time permanent position, with the opportunity for a hybrid work environment. As a majority of the role is in‑person/onsite, the successful candidate is required to be located in the Skwlāx (Kamloops, Chase, Salmon Arm) region. Offering a competitive salary $85,000‑$100,000, this opportunity includes a comprehensive compensation package and relocation support.
