Job summary

Verve Senior Living is seeking a Housekeeping Attendant to help keep resident suites and common areas clean and safe. You will support infection prevention, follow established procedures, and assist residents as needed to enhance their daily living experience.

Under the Environmental Services Manager, you will perform cleaning, sanitizing, and ongoing safety checks while maintaining a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and adhering to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Grade 12 education.
• 2+ years in a similar housekeeping role preferred.
• Clear communication in English (written and verbal).
• Attention to detail to meet cleaning standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and weekly cleaning, laundry, and vacuuming of resident suites.
• Clean all common areas according to policy and schedules.
• Replenish supplies and maintain clean, safe environments for residents.
• Provide general assistance to residents as required.
• Report equipment or maintenance concerns to supervisor.
• Participate in health and safety audits and infection prevention protocols.

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

Your passion for cleanliness and eye for detail helps to set our residence apart. We celebrate our Housekeeping Attendants as the first line of defense in preventing infection control and prevention. Without you, we wouldn't be able to keep our residence's sparkling clean! Our Housekeeping Attendants play a critical role in the health, safety and well-being of our residents by ensuring our infection and sanitation control measures are maintained throughout the residence. Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager, our Housekeepers are responsible for performing housekeeping tasks in an efficient manner, with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of grade 12 education required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar housekeeping position is preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
• Attention to detail is essential in ensuring cleaning tasks are performed to standard.
• Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
• Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be comfortable working with disinfectant and cleaning chemicals as well as hazardous materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards.
• Adheres to infection prevention control protocols to ensure resident safety and well-being.
• Performs daily and weekly cleaning, laundry, and vacuuming of resident suites as required in accordance with established procedures, schedules and job routines.
• Cleans all common areas according to established policies, procedures and schedules.
• Replenishes supplies as required.
• Performs additional cleaning and sanitizing as required, in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
• Picks up and disposes of garbage from waste containers daily.
• Ensures housekeeping room, closets, equipment and carts are kept in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.
• Provides general assistance to residents as required.
• Report any equipment or maintenance concerns within the residence to direct supervisor or designate.
• Completes Occupational Health and Safety audits as assigned.
• Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers. Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Manager or designate.
• Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
• Completes all required mandatory training/education.
• Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Participates in the ongoing Fire Prevention, and Pest Control programs and any other programs as required.
