Job summary

City of Thunderbay is seeking a part-time Housekeeping Aide to perform routine cleaning and related tasks under supervision. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and attractive living and working environment and participate in the Housekeeping T.Q.M. Program for Pioneer Ridge.

The job requires operating floor scrubbers, polishers, vacuums, and ladders; handling waste and chemicals safely; and maintaining T.Q.M. records, with a cooperative, team-based attitude.

Qualifications

• Must be highly motivated, work well in a team environment and be able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to converse and relate to residents, staff and the public in a courteous and tactful manner
• Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
• Understanding of needs of frail and elderly is necessary

Responsibilities

• Prioritise and perform routine and project tasks to ensure a safe, clean environment
• Operate automatic floor scrubbers, high speed floor polishers, wet-dry vacuums and ladders
• Safely handle waste, chemicals and body fluids per Infection Control and related policies
• Maintain current records for the Total Quality Management Program

Candidates need to target to perform at their best level, which makes understanding their duties and accountabilities crucial. They will perform routine and periodic cleaning tasks under the direct supervision of the Supervisor – Environmental Services. They will participate in the Housekeeping T.Q.M. Program for Pioneer Ridge.

• Candidates will prioritise and perform routine and project tasks to ensure a safe, clean, attractive living and working environment.
• They have to operate automatic floor scrubbers, high speed floor polishers, wet-dry vacuums and use ladders.
• They will safely handle waste, chemicals and body fluids in compliance with Infection Control, W.H.I.M.S. and related policies/standards.
• They will maintain current records for the section Total Quality Management Program.
