Job summary

Etobicoke General Hospital is seeking a housekeeping team member to perform routine cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, clinics, lobbies, washrooms and offices. You will use hospital-approved chemicals and equipment, wear PPE, and participate in safety meetings and training.

The role requires English literacy, ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and physical stamina for standing, walking, and lifting up to 44 lbs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of all areas including patient rooms, clinics, waiting rooms, lobbies, washrooms and offices.
  • Utilize hospital approved cleaning chemicals and equipment following departmental training and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings, safety huddles, education and training as required.
  • Wear required PPE and uniform as required.
  • Perform other duties in support of the housekeeping function as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain excellent attendance, punctuality and work record.
  • Schedule may include weekend work; effort will be made to give one weekend off in two.

Description

Accountabilities:



  • Performing routine cleaning (surface disinfection, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, etc.) of all areas of the facility including but not limited to occupied/unoccupied patient rooms, clinics, nursing stations, waiting rooms, lobbies, washrooms, offices, kitchens, operating rooms, utility rooms, corridors, morgues, equipment, and public areas in accordance with quality standards, procedures, and departmental training

  • Successful candidates may also be trained in the use of motorized cleaning equipment and performing floor care

  • Attending staff meetings, safety huddles, education, and training as required

  • Utilizing hospital approved cleaning chemicals and equipment (such as ladders, mops, vacuums and some motorized cleaning equipment) in accordance with departmental training and procedures

  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform as required

  • Performing other duties in support of the housekeeping function and other duties as assigned and/or required by a supervisor or Manager

  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required

  • Must be able to work where exposed to infection, blood/human waste, odors and work interruptions

  • Schedule may include weekend work; effort will be made to give one weekend off in two.

  • Must possess sufficient practical experience to perform the responsibilities of the position

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
