Job summary

Northwood in Halifax is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to support a safe, clean environment for residents and staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services, you will perform cleaning duties, laundry tasks, and equipment maintenance while following safety procedures.

This role demands physical stamina, reliable attendance, and the ability to work both independently and with a team.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade X or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Lift and move heavy items (50lbs) daily.
• Regular attendance as per Northwood standards.
• 2+ years in housekeeping in LT Care or Acute Care.
• Knowledge of floor care, WHMIS and refinishing floors.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas.
• Transport garbage and recycling with large carts.
• Maintain floors and carpets per procedures.
• Operate washers/dryers per instructions.
• Assist in laundry duties and distribution of linen.
• Maintain cleaning and orderliness of equipment.
• Complete special cleaning and event setups.
• Assist with office moves as requested.
• Adhere to safe chemical practices with MSDS.
