Job summary

The Salvation Army Jackson’s Point Conference Centre in Ontario is seeking a detail-oriented Housekeeper to maintain cleanliness of guest rooms, bathrooms, and public areas in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

You will manage supplies, perform housekeeping tasks, and support related duties with flexible shifts that may include days, evenings, weekends. This casual/relief role offers an opportunity to contribute to guest satisfaction and team operations.

Qualifications

• Completion of Secondary School.
• Minimum of two (2) years of related cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards.
• Customer-oriented and friendly; ability to work quickly without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive cleaning of rooms, bathrooms, and public areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Inspect spaces to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
• Clean and disinfect fixtures, appliances, and high-touch surfaces per guidelines.
• Manage waste removal and recycling; prepare materials for pickup.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and linens; reorder as needed.
• Maintain housekeeping and maintenance logs; report damages or repairs.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping schedules under supervision to ensure efficiency.
• Respond to requests with professionalism and strong customer service.
• Support cross-functional tasks such as dishwashing, dining area resets, and laundry.
• Ensure compliance with WHMIS and OH&S regulations; report hazards.

Position Purpose

The Houskeeper is primarily responsible for taking care of cleaning tasks, replenishing supplies and cleaning and storing housekeeping equipment for The Salvation Army Jackson’s Point Conference Centre in compliance with health and safety requirements. They ensure tidy and sanitary amenities to guests. The incumbent is a professional with integrity and attention to detail who will provide the highest level of guest satisfaction in cleanliness and service.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of rooms, bathrooms, and public areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
• Inspect and maintain all spaces to ensure they meet established quality and safety standards
• Clean and disinfect fixtures, appliances, and high‑touch surfaces in accordance with health and public safety guidelines
• Manage waste removal by collecting debris, emptying garbage and recycling, and preparing materials for scheduled pick‑up
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and consumables; reorder and distribute as needed
• Maintain accurate housekeeping and maintenance logs, reporting damages, deficiencies, and repair needs promptly
• Coordinate daily housekeeping schedules and activities under supervisor direction to ensure efficient operations
• Respond to requests and resolve routine concerns with professionalism, patience, and strong customer service
• Support cross‑functional operations, including dishwashing, dining area reset, and laundry tasks to ensure a clean and guest‑ready environment
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, WHMIS, and OH&S regulations, including reporting hazards, following emergency procedures, and maintaining safety documentation

Qualifications

• Completion of Secondary School
• Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience as a cleaner or housekeeper in a professional cleaning role
• Knowledge of health and safety standards
• Customer‑oriented and friendly; ability to work quickly without compromising quality
• Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and be flexible
• Exhibit good listening skills, strong oral/written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability
• Effective organizational and time‑management skills

Working Conditions

This is a casual/relief position. There are no standard weekly hours of work and no guaranteed hours. Work will be offered on an as needed basis; shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Ability to lift/move on a regular basis up to 35 pounds (15.8757 kgs.)

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $19.85 with a maximum of $23.82. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
