Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking a Journeyman Tradesperson/Plant Operator to perform repairs on hospital facilities and equipment. The role includes operating the Building Automation System (BAS), testing diesel generators, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers, and maintaining essential services such as HVAC and medical gases.

The ideal candidate has a Red Seal Ontario certificate or Operating Engineer license, strong English communication, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Valid Red Seal Ontario Certificate of Qualification.
• Operating Engineer license or equivalent.
• Experience in hospital plant operations.
• Reads, writes and speaks English fluently.
• Able to read blueprints and sketches.
• Proficient with BAS and preventative maintenance.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Meets physical demands of the job.
• Upholds Scarborough Health Network Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs to hospital facilities and equipment.
• Operate BAS, perform water and diesel generator tests, and manage chillers/ boilers.
• Monitor HVAC, medical gases, fire alarm and hot water systems.
• Support grounds maintenance and other essential labour tasks as needed.
• Work at General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs.
