Job summary

Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is seeking a Part-Time Housekeeper to perform a variety of housekeeping duties in a psychiatric hospital and maximum secure forensic division. The role ensures a neat, orderly, and sanitary environment in patient areas, lounges, washrooms, and other hospital spaces.

The position requires a High School Diploma and 1–3 years of hospital cleaning experience. Strong communication, organizational, and physical stamina are essential to meet daily priorities and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma - Minimum grade 12 or equivalent - REQUIRED
• 1-3 years Hospital health care or Long-Term Care facility - Preferred
• Knowledge of hospital health care environment cleaning; familiarity with PIDAC Best Practices for Environmental Cleaning and Infection Control
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS for safe cleaning practices in a maximum secure division
• Ability to read and follow job specifications and routines within designated time frames
• Basic computer skills to utilize email and e-learning used at Waypoint
• Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate with the Manager and hospital staff
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and terminal/discharge cleaning to PIDAC standards in patient areas and hospital rooms.
• Replenish supplies and monitor linen inventory and dispensers.
• Clean windows, entrances, and external areas as scheduled.
• Maintain floors and use equipment to shampoo, buff, scrub, and wax as needed.
• Secure and maintain tools and equipment in a safe, sanitary condition.
• Transport linen, supplies, and meals between facilities as required.
• Follow hospital policies, safety rules, and infection control procedures.
