Job summary

The Redwoods Golf Course in North Langley is seeking a part-time Horticulturist to join our Turf Care Team for May through October. The role focuses on propagating, caring for, pruning, and protecting west coast perennials, annuals, shrubs, and woody plants across the property.

Join a small team and help maintain stunning landscaping around the course and facilities. Prior horticulture experience and a BC driver’s license are required; IPM and irrigation knowledge are assets.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, or nursery management.
• Completion of post-secondary education in a related horticulture discipline.
• Valid BC driver's license is required.
• High level knowledge of west coast plant ID is required.
• Willingness to complete a Police Information Check is required.
• Valid First Aid/CPR-C/AED certification, or equivalent, will be required.
• Knowledge of irrigation system repair, scheduling and maintenance is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate groundskeeping equipment and power tools such as string trimmers, blowers, hedgers, and mowers.
• Care for landscaping across the property, including the golf course and surrounding areas.
• Oversee soil fertility maintenance and IPM to keep plants healthy.
• Monitor plant health and address diseases and nutrient deficiencies.
• Design and implement new flower beds and enhance existing ones.
• Lead and supervise other grounds crew members as needed.

Do you love plants and working in the outdoors? The Redwoods Golf Course in North Langley is looking to fill the part-time position ofHorticulturist in our dynamic Turf Care Team starting this May!

Beautiful scenery, mature forests, and a Coastal Mountain backdrop surround this challenging 18-hole championship golf course. We are looking for someone passionate about plants who has a strong knowledge of propagating, caring for, pruning and protecting west coast perennials, annuals, small shrubs, and woody plants.This position will work in tandem with another Horticulturist to create and maintain beautiful landscaping around the Redwoods property.

This part-time role offers approximately 16 hours of work per week from May through October.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate various groundskeeping equipment and power tools, including string trimmers, backpack blowers, hedgers, hand tools, walk-behind mowers etc.
• Care for all landscaping across the property, including the golf course, clubhouse surrounds, wedding area, parking lot etc.
• Oversee all fertility and soil maintenance needs
• Monitor the health of plants, identify diseases, pests and nutrient deficiencies and implement an IPM Program to maintain plant health
• Design and implement new flower bed ideas and improve current ones
• Lead and supervise other grounds crew members to complete projects as needed
• Develop seasonal planting schedules to ensure that landscaping is presentable during all seasons
• Communicate with the Clubhouse management team, as well as the Course Superintendent, to prioritize and schedule necessary work
• Assist in planning and ordering plant materials and tools
• Program and monitor garden irrigation while on site, and hand water as needed
• Maintain a clean working environment
• Assist in golf course duties as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High level of knowledge of fertilizing needs, IPM procedures and plant protection products is required
• High level knowledge of west coast plant ID is required
• Willingness to complete a Police Information Check is required
• Valid Basic First Aid, CPR-C and AED Certification, or equivalent, will be required to be maintained throughout employment
• Valid Pesticide Applicators License is an asset
• Knowledge of irrigation system repair, scheduling and maintenance is an asset
• Understanding of the golf course environment and expectations is an asset

Operated by Ten Feet Sports and Entertainment, the Redwoods Golf Course has been serving locals and guests since 1994. Redwoods is situated in North Langley just off of Highway #1 and minutes from the Golden Ears Bridge
