Position Purpose
Reporting to the Supervisor, Data Services, this role is responsible for providing initial and ongoing Homeless Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS) training and support to all potential HIFIS users during its phased implementation across all Emergency Shelters in the Region. This includes shelter operators, their staff, and some Regional staff. The position also involves coordinating data collection and reporting from HIFIS to the Branch, the Department, and external organizations.
Major Responsibilities
- Promote HIFIS to new users, Homeless Service Providers (HSP), and other potential providers.
- Develop partnerships with federal government staff through activities such as HIFIS software training, IT and software technical support, and validation of data integrity.
- Orient, train, test, and update users, Emergency Shelter operators and their staff, and selected Department staff on HIFIS, related legislation, regulations, policies, and practices.
- Analyze and report on HIFIS aggregate data and trends; assist in developing community data reports on homelessness issues and disseminate meaningful data within the community.
- Prepare statistical fact sheets and report cards based on HIFIS data, including demographic information.
- Participate in optimizing HIFIS functionalities.
- Attend meetings, committees, and task forces as assigned.
- Ensure services meet Regional customer service standards.
- Maintain expertise in technical skills and program knowledge through literature review, field practice, and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned in line with Branch and Department objectives.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years experience designing and delivering adult training/education in a social services environment, or demonstrated experience supporting a technical application, testing databases, and identifying system inconsistencies.
- Experience in computer systems development processes.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for corporate use.
- Knowledge of and ability in core competencies such as customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management, accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
- General knowledge of instructional design, analysis, measurement, evaluation methods, facilitation, and presentation skills.
