Responsibilities
- Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
- Travel with the family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
- Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
- Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
- Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
- Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
- Organize activities such as games and outings for children
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals
- Prepare infants and children for rest periods
- Supervise and care for children
- Tend to the emotional well‑being of children
- Help children with homework
Qualifications
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Certificates, licences, memberships and courses:
- CPR Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Experience: Experience is an asset; experience with special‑needs children (autistic, ADHD/ADD) is a plus
- Technical, physical and personal suitability:
- Physical demands: physically demanding, repetitive tasks, work under pressure, attention to detail; weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, judgement, organized, reliability, teamwork, time management, patience, honesty
- Security and safety: required criminal record check
- Work site environment: Non‑smoking
- Work setting: Employer's home
- Languages: English
