Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio is seeking a skilled pediatric physical therapist to evaluate and treat pediatric patients and select adults with injuries or diseases. You will document patient progress, educate families, and fabricate adaptive equipment as needed.

A strong emphasis on ED/EBP and ongoing professional development is expected. The role requires a Bachelor's in Physical Therapy, Ohio licensure, and CPR certification within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
• State of Ohio licensure in physical therapy is required.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by policy.
• CPR certification within 60 days post hire or post expiration.
• One year of pediatric PT experience preferred.

Essential Functions

• Attends continuing education programs and participates in departmental in-service training programs to enhance professional development including participation in EBP.
• Conducts Physical Therapy educational programs for hospital staff, students, and community. Delegates to students from accredited programs, licensed physical therapist assistants, and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided.
• Develops and administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence. Utilizes developmental activities, modalities, and other treatment techniques to meet each patient’s specific needs and achieve therapy goals, observes, and modifies treatment plan accordingly.
• Documents as appropriate and in compliance with requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation.
• Educates on treatment goals and therapy plans, instructs on therapeutic activities to follow at home, and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding.
• Fabricates, recommends, or provides adaptive equipment, splints, or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility. Fits patient and instructs on use of item.
• Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations. Identifies patient’s strengths and deficits, establishes goals, and develops an individualized treatment plan.

Education Requirement

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, required.

Licensure Requirement

• State of Ohio licensure in physical therapy, required.

Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Certifications

Experience

One year of physical therapy work experience in a pediatric setting or clinical affiliation in area of pediatrics, preferred.
