Overview

Home Care Nurse – Employment Opportunity (Full-Time Permanent). Location: Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation Family and Community Centre (NCNFCWC) – Nelson House Head-Office. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate homecare nurse to join our team in Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (Nelson House). The position is full-time and involves providing essential healthcare services to clients in their homes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Deliver high quality nursing care to homebound patients or clients as referred by the nursing station, Home and Community Care Coordinator, and community.
    • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans.
    • Administer treatments and medications as prescribed.
    • Provide wound care, injections, and other clinical procedures as needed.
    • Educate patients and their families on healthcare management, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
    • Prepare and submit reports on patient care, program outcomes, and staff performance.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Essential:
    • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a valid license to practice in Manitoba.
    • Experience in homecare or community health nursing is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Ability to prioritize needs and organize work to accomplish workload.
    • Experience in advocating on behalf of clients to ensure required care.
    • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centred care.
  • Desired:
    • Certification in CPR Level C or higher.
    • Knowledge of local health services and community resources.
    • Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
    • Ability to speak and understand Cree relevant to the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation.

Working Conditions
  • Working a standard work week.
  • Additional hours beyond the standard regular hours of work may be required at times.
