Job summary

Hockley Valley Resort & Adamo Estate Winery seeks a skilled Ski lift mechanic to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift systems. This full-time, year-round role involves reading diagrams, servicing components, and working at height in all weather conditions to ensure safe lift operations.

The position requires reliability, attention to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with ski operations staff while upholding TSSA standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work at heights.
• Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
• Knowledge of WSIB regulations is an asset.
• Electrical experience is an asset.
• Ability to operate snowmobiles and snow groomers is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties as directed by Director of Ski Operations and Ski Operations Manager.
• Maintain lifts to TSSA code and manufacturers' recommendations.
• Assist in emergency situations.
• Report and rectify unsafe situations.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
• Mechanical knowledge of all on-site equipment.
• Maintain and repair ski operations equipment.
• Deliver and pick up parts and supplies.
• Keep inventory of shop supplies.
• Support ski operations staff on the hill when required.
• Know all ski operations and policies.
• Record and update service records on all equipment.
• Plough snow when required.
• Move and park all equipment appropriately.
• Assist in non-mechanical duties on/off the hill.
• Interact with management, staff and guests with courtesy and respect.

Job Brief:

The position of Ski lift mechanic is a full-time, year round, job with a significant amount of responsibility attached. Ski Lift mechanics install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift equipment as well as assist lift operations with the start-up and shut down of the lifts daily. They also read diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals, fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training. They work at great heights, in all weather conditions, at any time of the day or night.

Responsibilities:

• To perform all duties assigned by Director of Ski Operations and Ski Operations Manager
• Ensure all lifts are maintained to TSSA code and manufacturers recommendations
• Assist in emergency situations
• Report and rectify any unsafe situations
• Keep a clean, organized and safe work environment
• Mechanical knowledge of all on site equipment
• Maintain and repair all ski operations related equipment
• Deliver and pick up parts and supplies
• Keep appropriate inventory of shop supplies for servicing and maintaining all related equipment
• Support ski operations staff on Ski hill when required
• Have full knowledge of all ski operations and policies
• Record and update service records on all equipment
• Plough snow when required
• Be responsible for moving and parking all equipment appropriately
• Assist in areas outside mechanical related duties on or off ski hill
• Use courtesy and respect when dealing with management, staff, co-workers, and guests at all times

• Good communications skills, self-motivated, mature, dependable, timely and able to work well with others
• Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to work at excessive heights
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
• Ability to operate snowmobiles in a safe and responsible manner
