Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join the Infrastructure group in our Highways & Bridges team in the Mississauga location.

The Senior Project Manager is a strategic leadership/management role primarily focused on delivering a portfolio of challenging, high profile transportation projects involving the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO). The role will be forward-thinking, demanding yet challenging, evoking entrepreneurial technical skills towards long-term career development and fulfillment. You will work autonomously to lead and advise an elite and expansive team of engineers and technologists to deliver projects that shape the future of transportation in Ontario and throughout Canada and abroad.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Conduct and oversee the preliminary and detailed design drawings for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects (key focus to MTO, however adaptive to Regional and Municipal infrastructure as common stakeholders), involving public and private utilities, drainage, earthworks, roads, rail, transit facilities, etc.), and composite utility plans including plan, profile, cutting cross-sections, design details;
  • Lead and manage delivery teams toward successful delivery of transportation projects involving various disciplinary complexities, size and scope (including major road reconstruction and/or widening, multi-lane expressways, interchanges, and integrated bus-rapid-transit (BRT) facilities;
  • Advise and execute delivery adaptive delivery procurement models including design-bid-build (DBB), P3, design-build (D/B) and/or integrated project delivery (IPD);
  • Quality management/quality assurance including work plan development and execution, guidance, mentoring and oversight of performance of project delivery support team associated with road design;
  • Develop technical documents (as needed);
  • Commercial/project budgetary management (supported by extended Project Sponsor/Project Assurance team);
  • Client/stakeholder management and business development including contribution to strategic growth/recruiting;

You bring to the role:

  • Civil Engineering Degree with an accredited University
  • Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.);
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Road/Transportation design (serving as MTO Lead or PM);
  • Experience of major road/highway design including multi-lane roadways, urban rights-of-way (arterial, collector), traffic staging and construction sequencing. Roundabout and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) design experience would be an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in Ministry’s Total Project Management (TPM) model as well as other adaptations of procurement models including DBB, D/B, and IPD;
  • Eligible for MTO RAQS Approval in key Highway Engineering categories;
  • Comprehensive understanding and familiarity of road design codes and standards, including TAC Geometric Design Guide for Canadian Roads (GDGCR); MTO’s Supplement to TAC GDGCR, Roadside Design Manual, and Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM). Experience with public utilities (i.e., watermain, storm sewer, sanitary) codes and standards applicable to utility design would be an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment;
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
