Job summary

Ledcor Highways Ltd. in Alberta seeks an experienced foreperson to support highway maintenance crews. You will operate snowplow trucks and heavy equipment, assist safety meetings, inspect equipment and report road conditions.

You’ll help plan work to meet milestones and supervise crew performance. This is a safety-driven role with outdoor conditions year-round, local candidate preference, and potential night shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clear 3-year driver's abstract.
• Previous supervisory experience in highway maintenance, road construction, bridges or related field is required.
• Snow plow experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills are an asset.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol and audiogram testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
• Maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with Labourer duties (crack sealing, pothole repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
• Work outside in all weather conditions
• Assist leadership with daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports
• Support Foreperson in the planning of work to meet contractual milestones
• Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew
• Help ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly
